  • Dr. Megan DeJana, DC

Dr. Megan DeJana was born and raised in Kalispell, Montana. She continues to claim that you can take the girl out of Montana but not the Montana out of the girl. Dr. Megan started her migration west to attend Boise State University. She studied and graduated with a bachelors of science in Human Kinesiology. Dr. Megan had the privilege of interning at the prestigious Idaho Sports Medicine Institute where she discovered that she did not want to pursue a career as an orthopedic surgeon but that she had a love for manual medicine and caring for patients. Chiropractic found her during this time, and after a visit to the campus of Western States Chiropractic College (currently University of Western States) Dr. Megan had found her calling.

Dr. Megan graduated Valedictorian of her class in December, 2005. After the birth of her first child, she discovered a deep passion for caring for pre/post-natal mothers and pediatrics. She started her Diplomate program in Family Wellness through the ICPA, and she has enjoyed serving the Hillsboro community for the past eight years. Dr. Megan opened her practice, Active Wellness Chiropractic, in 2014 and looks forward to caring for the greater Portland, Beaverton and Hillsboro communities.

In her spare time, Dr. Megan enjoys spending time with her husband Adam and their three beautiful children. She is blessed to be called mom by Mia (10), Elyn (8) and Grey (4). The Pacific Northwest is their playground and the family enjoys wakeboarding, skiing, and hiking together. Dr. Megan is an avid runner and enjoys running half marathons and hood to coast. The family lives a whole foods, Paleo lifestyle and believe that nutrition and exercise are essential to their Active Wellness.

  • Dr. Nahinu James, DC

Dr. Nahinu is a board certified chiropractic physician and a trained Craniosacral therapist through the Upledger Institute. She was born and raised on the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawai’i, and tends to channel her local upbringing – including energetic vibes and philosophies – into her discussions and treatments with patients. She has spent most of her adult life in the Pacific Northwest – graduating from Pacific University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and then earning her Doctorate of Chiropractic from the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon.

Dr. Nahinu joined Active Wellness Chiropractic after completing her senior internship and two years of practice at Whole Mama ~ Whole Child, a reputable and beloved member of the prenatal, postpartum, and pediatric chiropractic community in Portland. During her time practicing, Dr. Nahinu quickly realized through multitudes of treatments with expecting mothers, that she wanted to be someone who put mom’s first. She wants to maintain a safe and healing space for you, and be the voice that helps to remind you – “If you do not take care of yourself, how will you continue to care for those who count on you?” As her work continues, Dr. Nahinu has witnessed the growth of families, and has had the extreme pleasure of offering supportive and gentle care to the babes of her prenatal and postpartum patients. Dr. Nahinu is a member of the ICPA (International Chiropractic Pediatric Association), and continues to delve into the world of pregnancy and pediatric chiropractic care with continuing education courses that place an emphasis on treatments and therapies for both the blossoming mother and infant.

When not at Active Wellness Chiropractic, Dr. Nahinu is out gallivanting with her partner (Tyler) & husky pup (Nalu), reading for pure joy (she has a goal of 30 books in 2018!), or practicing health in mind & body with yoga, circuit training, and running/cycling. She is also bound & determined to learn how to create macramé wall hangings!

What does a treatment with you look like?

My goal is to help empower mamas & mamas-to-be. I am here to offer a listening ear and therapeutic treatments, along with additional references & resources when needed. I firmly believe we are stronger as a supportive unit, and that all warrior mamas (whether this is your first or third newborn) deserve to have an army behind them! I also find no limit to the joy it brings me to assist littles in proper movement patterns and feeling more comfortable in their ever-changing bodies. Know that when you or your child are on my table, all of your concerns & needs come first. Everything else is secondary to providing you with the absolute best care towards a path & life of optimum health. You & your family deserve that. We all deserve such love & compassion. Here’s to bountiful, beautiful, and well-loved lives! I look forward to meeting you along the way & becoming a part of your healthcare tribe. Cheers! – Dr. N

  • Katie Briggs, MSPT, CD, CIMT

From a young age, Katie knew she wanted her profession to involve working with kids. She received her Masters of Science in PT from Boston University in 1999, and has since worked with children of all ages in a variety of settings. Over the past decade, she has become a Certified Labor Doula and Certified Infant Massage Teacher and her physical therapy practice has gradually narrowed to focus on younger children.

Katie now works with infants, toddlers, and pre-school aged children, helping kids with developmental delay as well as neurological and orthopedic conditions. She focuses on therapy that is developmentally appropriate and fun for the child, and helps caregivers learn to facilitate their children’s development. Katie believes strongly in helping all kids reach their full potential in order to live healthy, fun-filled lives.

When she is not treating patients and working with families, Katie can be found cheering on her own kids at various sporting events, trying to grow new fruits and veggies in her backyard, exploring Portland’s waterways on her stand up paddleboard, or curled up with a good book.
